ΒΛΟΓ

To start the education programme at Vessel, we're going to run a series of short (half-day / evening) workshops over the next couple of months, led by artists and practitioners. The workshops will combine practical work with discussions and readings, or a presentation, or a screening.

The idea for these workshops is that pretty much anyone can attend, regardless of their skill level, and they'll come away having added something to the community, and learned a new practical skill for themself - one that lends itself, perhaps, to our aim of building better futures. ("Better"? Let's say, regenerative, adaptive, ethical, equitable, even, yes, survivable.)

Here's some of the proposed topics for the workshops:

  • Decentralised networks and distributed power
  • DIY solar and other renewable energy
  • Radio hacking - transmitters, recievers, piracy
  • Deepfakes, realness, and ground truthing
  • Air Conditioning: Sustainable heating / sustainable cooling
  • Solarpunk, science fiction, and refuturing Athens
  • Neural networks and building your own AI
  • Open source intelligence gathering
  • Satellite image analysis
  • Air quality and pollution monitoring
  • Permaculture, guerilla gardening, and urban horticulture
  • Regenerative design and agriculture
  • Animal sensing, tracking, and observation
  • Local currencies and collective exchanges

In order to run these workshops - to pay workshop leaders and support participants - we need funding. As well as seeking institutional support, where appropriate, we're also seeking sponsorship in kind for equipment, as well as individual donations. Please email hello@vessel.vision if you're interested in knowing more.
